Mark backs his design instincts with clear judgement of risk and long-term value – the kind that gets bold ideas past committee and into construction. Knowing when to collaborate, when to challenge and who to bring to the table, he keeps teams moving through the decisions that ultimately shape the success, character and legacy of a project.
Driving every project toward greater performance, economy and elegance, Mark’s ambition is for the work to enhance its setting and amplify local values. He’s remarkable at identifying and capitalising on site opportunities and has propelled the conceptualisation and design development of some of ARM’s most striking, rational and viable projects.
A called upon commentator on design and urbanism, Mark maintains a critical approach through university teaching, service to the industry, and discernment on design panels. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Architects, an AIA NSW Chapter Councillor, and a member of the NSW State Design Review Panel.
“I like architecture that makes me see the world in a new way and recall things I thought I’d forgotten.”
